Stepping Stones School is an Independent Day Special School and alternative provision for children aged 7-19 years. Originally for those with moderate physical and learning difficulties, it now admits children with a broader spectrum of learning difficulties, including those on the autistic spectrum. The Ofsted inspection in 2019, once again, judged the school Good with Outstanding features.

We are fortunate to have state-of-the art school buildings with extensive grounds, which provide a stimulating, ever-evolving environment to meet the needs of all our learners.

Our original Tower Road site is now our primary provision.  Two minutes’ walk away is our secondary site: Undershaw, which is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s former home in Surrey.  The facilities emphasise our pupil-centred approach. Our expectation is to provide an inspirational school in an historic location. Our vision for the future will also focus on supporting students to develop their employability skills.   The school has received substantial support from two charitable foundations: COINS and DFN. The school is a very positive and supportive community, with a motivated and cohesive staff who are very committed to the children and their families.
